Herringbone Single Crochet: A Guide
Herringbone Single Crochet has been one of the most mind-bending (or should I say hand-bending) crochet stitches I’ve learnt.
Herringbone Single Crochet (also known as chevron stitch) creates a wonderful texture of V stitches or little arrows reminiscent of a fish skeleton, but it’s a bit of a pain to learn!

Exploring Star Stitch Crochet
A step-by-step guide to making one of the most beautiful crochet stitches
The star stitch is my current favourite stitch for creating pretty texture and areas of interest in crochet.
However, it wasn’t always a perfect love affair.
The first time I came across Star stitch was in a vintage stitch dictionary. I happily made a piece of crochet fabric, hoping to create a rectangle which I could use to form the back of a Poldark-inspired jacket.

Pattern Testing with Pearled Wing
Before I even wrote my first pattern, I pattern tested for other designers. I have had some great experiences but I have also seen and heard some wild things! Those wild things pushed me to make the testing experience as good as I could for my testers.
I couldn't publish my patterns without the help of kind volunteers. Well, I could, but it would be a bit of a disaster!

Amanita Hat - Free Pattern
This hat was designed to go with the Amanita Sweater. You can buy the Amanita Sweater Pattern on Ravelry.
This is a measure-along pattern with instructions rather than specific rows and stitch counts. I have included information about my gauge, the yarn and hook I used but as this is a measure along you work from your own gauge swatch and do not need to match mine.

Revisiting my First Pattern Isca
In this world of fast fashion, fast everything, it’s easy to move on to the next thing and not think about where we started.
I started my crochet journey with knitting.
I found knitting exciting with endless possibilities, but I struggled a little with designing my own pieces. I managed to design a vest from scratch which I loved. I dreamt of being a knitwear designer, but I had chosen a big first project and soon life got in the way of taking it any further.
